John R. Budden, M.D., a native of Baton Rouge, graduated from Broadmoor High School in 1968. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972, and a Masters of Science degree in 1975 from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He was the recipient of the annual Sigma Xi Research Award in 1974 for research excellence.
In 1982, Dr. Budden received his Medical Degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans. Following Medical School, he completed his residency in Orthopedics at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans. His residency included rotations at Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in Shreveport, and Southwest Louisiana Medical Center in Houma. While at Ochsner he received the annual Landman Memorial Award for Humanistic Qualities in 1985.
