We want our patients' time with us to be as comfortable as possible. The important information below will help patients and family to be better prepared for a visit to our hospital. Before You Arrive
Pre-admission
The hospital pre-admission staff will contact patients by phone one day prior to scheduled admission. Patients may call 337-769-4100 with any questions regarding their hospital stay.
Confidential Information
Lafayette Surgical Specialty Hospital is committed to confidentiality concerning personal and medical information which we will need in order to provide the best health care possible. If you have special needs for confidentiality, please notify our staff.
- If you have an advance directive, living will or health proxy form, it should be brought with you to the hospital. If you do not, this information will be provided at the time of admission.
- The Medical Records department will require authorization for release of any medical records, except in the case of transfer to another health care facility, or as required by law or third party payment contract.
During Your Stay
No Smoking Policy
In order to provide patients, family and visitors with the highest quality health care environment, Lafayette Surgical Specialty Hospital is a smoke-free facility. There is no smoking throughout the building, but there are designated exterior smoking areas.
Valuables
Money, credit cards, jewelry, and valued personal items should not be brought to the hospital. We cannot be responsible for items kept in the patient rooms.
Electrical Equipment
For safety reasons, we encourage patients to limit the use of personal electrical equipment. Please check with a staff member prior to using any electrical equipment.
Meals
Patients will be served breakfast, lunch and dinner in their rooms. Please let us know in advance about any special dietary needs.
Communications
Each patient room is equipped with a communication system which enables patients to contact the nurses' station. Local phone calls can be made by dialing "9" and the local number. Family and friends may dial directly to patient rooms by dialing 769-4 + the room number.
Mail and Flowers
Mail, flowers, or packages will be delivered to patient rooms. Deliveries after discharge will be forwarded to the patient's home.
Visitors
Lafayette Surgical Specialty Hospital has an open visitation policy, which means that visitors are welcome at any time. Patient rooms are private and spacious, with sleeper sofas available for guest sleeping. One overnight guest (16 or older) may stay with the patient.
There is no cafeteria; however, there is a vending area located near the main lobby with snacks and drinks available. Telephone, water fountain, restrooms and an ATM machine are also available in this area.
Hotels/Restaurants
A list of nearby hotels and restaurants is available from our staff, either at the nurses' station or the reception desk in the main lobby.
Security
Lafayette Surgical Specialty Hospital provides security to ensure safety and peace of mind for our patients and their families. If you should experience any security concerns during your stay, please inform our staff immediately.
Problems/Concerns/Special Services
Lafayette Surgical Specialty Hospital strives for excellence in all areas, and provides several methods for addressing any problems or concerns, including a patient satisfaction survey, which will help us improve our services. Leaving For Home
Patients are discharged upon a written order from their physician. In most cases, all necessary information will be obtained and all financial arrangements will be completed prior to the time of discharge. Home instructions and any prescriptions which have been ordered will be provided at this time. Checkout time is 12 noon.
Charges
Lafayette Surgical Specialty Hospital charges are based on our operating expenses and prevailing rates for similar services in our community. Our goal is to provide the highest quality health care at the lowest reasonable cost. Daily hospital charges cover room, routine care, bedside meals and housekeeping. Ancillary charges such as pharmacy, lab, radiology, etc. are billed as additional costs. An itemized list of these charges is available upon request. Physician, anesthesiologist, private nurse and other consultant fees will be billed separately.
