We offer X-Rays, myelograms, ultrasounds and CT scans that are performed by a highly qualified team of radiographers. All of our interpreting Radiologists are board certified in diagnostic radiology and have performed additional fellowship training.
Our radiology department is accredited by the
American College of Radiology (ACR) for excellence in computed tomography (CT). This means that LSSH has voluntariliy undergone a rigorous review process to be sure it meets nationally accepted standards. The notice of accreditation also cites personnel who are well-qualified to perform and interpret medical images and administer the proper treatments. It goes
on to note that the equipment is appropriate for the test or treatment and the facility meets or exceeds quality assurance and safety guidelines.
Meet our Radiologists
A native of India, Dr. Vidyadhar "Viju" Akkaraju, moved to the U.S.A. after graduating from medical school. He completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, Virginia and his Fellowship in Neuroradiology followed at the Medical University of South Carolina at Charleston. Dr. Akkaraju has been a resident of Lafayette for the last 23 years.
Dr. Akkaraju is Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology with Special Competence in Nuclear Radiology and also has a Certificate of added Qualification in Neuroradiology. He is a Senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology, and a member of Southeastern Neuroradiological Society.
Dr. Rodney Burns, originally from New Mexico, has lived in Louisiana since 1992. He received his internship and diagnostic radiology training at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans. He was a faculty member at L.S.U. New Orleans in the emergency radiology section prior to entering private practice. He has practiced in Lafayette since 2000 and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Radiology with certification in Diagnostic Radiology.
Dr. Joshua Yellin completed his medical school training at the Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. He completed his residency training in diagnostic radiology at the Maricopa County Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ where he served as chief resident. Dr. Yellin went on to complete an additional year of fellowship training in musculoskeletal radiology at The Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL before taking a position as section chief of musculoskeletal imaging with Lourdes Imaging Network. Dr. Yellin has been a visiting professor in diagnostic radiology at the University of Hong Kong and has published multiple papers including a recent article on MR arthrography in an upcoming issue of Applied Radiology. His special interests include MR and CT arthrography, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and ultrasound guided procedures.
